Let’s break down the specifications and analyze major changes that have been done with each version:
There is an upgrade in the chipset used in Moto G3. It has Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 as compared to Snapdragon 400 used in both 1st and 2nd generation. The clock frequency is 1.4Ghz as compared to 1.2 GHz in previous generations. So we have a positive here too.
The display size of first Gen was 4.5 inches and became 5 inches in Moto G 2rd Gen. The latest model too has 5 inch HD display. Motorola could have done a better job in this and provided a full HD display. But they have covered it up by providing the waterproof capabilities. Yes, the new Moto G3 can withstand water level up to 1m for a period of 30 minutes.
Every generation of Moto G series got a good camera upgrade and this one is not an exception. 8MP camera of 2nd Gen is replaced by 13MP shooter which is capable of shooting Full HD videos. The front camera too has been upgraded to 5MP which is a big plus.
Another major upgrade to talk about is the 4G connectivity of Moto G3. With the expansion of 4G it has become a crucial factor for buyers and more of the are favouring 4G phones. So both 8GB and 16GB models of Moto G3 support 4G which gives it another plus.
Motorola has again impressed with Moto G (3rd generation). It is again a good budget phone with good features. But there are some scopes of improvements like the display segment. a full HD screen with higher ppi ratio would have made it a perfect package. Also, there is an improvement in the processing department but not a major one. The water resistant capabilities are although a balance and overall Motorola has done a good job.
The Moto G3 has been launched in two variants. 8GB and 16GB with some other differences too. You can see the comparison here.
